Vertical Taxis Get Another Lift for S. Korean Market

Dallas-based Jaunt Air, which develops electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, has partnered with MintAir, a former global engineering parts manufacturing company that now is building an “advanced air mobility service” in South Korea, the companies announced Monday. MintAir has agreed to order up to 40 of Jaunt’s aircraft.

Jaunt is using “slowed rotor compound” technologies and partnerships with Tier 1 aerospace suppliers to design and product eVTOL aircraft “that is operationally efficient, quiet and sustainable,” Jaunt CEO Martin Peryea said in a statement.

MintAir will work with Jaunt to launch commercial passenger air transportation operations in “several Korean markets.”

Earlier this year, Joby, a California-based eVTOL developer, partnered with South Korea’s SK Telecom to bring aerial ridesharing services to the Asian country.
